We offer an intentional approach to preschool and K-12 learning.

We are open for the 2023/24 school year! Serving the families of Boundary and Bonner Counties in North Idaho.

Contact us to enroll today: 208-610-6507

We are a private, non-profit, Bible-based pre and K-12 school.

Located to serve the families of Boundary and Bonner Counties in Idaho.

Bible based means that each student will go through an age-appropriate level of the Old Testament 1st semester and New Testament 2nd Semester. We do not identify with denominations, religious groups or have any political affiliation. Foundations School will be working from four core pillars: Faith Foundations, Educational Building Blocks, Character Development and Strengthening Families and Communities.

We will be learning God’s word from the Bible starting with Creation in the Old Testament and working our way through the plan laid out in the New Testament. We will use this as the foundation for all curriculum.

Our approach to learning will be intentional every moment of the day. Students will learn the skills necessary to succeed in a school setting along with the foundational skills they will need for life. We believe that the sky is the limit on knowledge if you can read and understand what you read.

The approach to character development will be intentional in curriculum, example, and action. We will focus and strengthen pillar characteristics such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, citizenship, and kindness. We will have target activities within our school, home and community to practice putting these traits to use.

We have made it our goal to come alongside families and help strengthen from within. We believe that a strong education leads to confident productive citizens who are mindful of their families and communities around them. We will be intentionally seeking opportunities to serve our communities and families. We will leave everything we touch better than we found it.

We will be focusing heavily on reading, reading comprehension, critical thinking and learning how to clearly articulate all the information gained from the process. We believe that strong readers produce great thinkers and wise leaders with the ability to articulate, debate and share knowledge. We believe that reading is the key that unlocks the potential for one to choose any path they can dream of. Some of the curriculum that we will be using for unit studies include but are not limited to:

  • Mystery of History – overlaps world history with the events of biblical history.  For example, students will learn what the church was doing in the Middle Ages according to Bible timeline alongside what the Vikings were doing in the world at the same time. They will examine what Roman History and Greek Mythology had to do with the events of the Bible.
  • Mike Rowe Work Ethics curriculum and the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge.
  • Science – We will be hands on exploring the world for elementary science, learning to ask questions and test the theories. Middle school science will include an in-depth examination of our North Idaho surroundings. Students will learn to identify the plant and animal world in North Idaho. They will learn about harvesting and planting.  Students will explore and learn to identify everything from the dirt to the branches and all the critters God created that live everywhere in between. High School Science will take an in-depth look at Biology, Chemistry and science history and continue to test, challenge, and explore the scientific theory. We will be exploring the science from Genesis chapter 1 where we learn that God as the creator is the first scientist. We will explore the effects of the flood and the evidence of science in archaeology.
  • Dave Ramsey – Foundations in Personal Finance. – Our goal is to have each student ready to reach any financial goal they can dream of through hard work and the wisdom of how to take care of their finances. Our elementary students will be learning how to count and identify money by participating in our “Little Market”. They will earn pretend money that they will be able to be use to purchase trinkets and goodies. In early elementary we start the “When I Grow Up” lessons. We start exploring “Dream it, Make it, Sell it” and then create little businesses by upper elementary. In Jr. High the students get to present their ideas and businesses to their peers “Shark Tank” style. In High School we will continue to work toward implementing the students’ goals and objectives with real world experience.
  • Foundations plans to open a thrift store and a coffee shop that will allow students to spend time learning business concepts such as payroll, taxes, inventory management, budgeting, customer service and more. They will be able to earn money as they learn. The profits from these businesses will help fund the Foundations School and help us keep our cost down for the tuition of attending Foundations School.
  • Cursive handwriting – We will be learning cursive with the goal of knowing not only how to write but to also be able to read in cursive. Most of the founding documents, letters and important pieces of our history are written in cursive. We want our students to have the ability to read the original Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson’s letters and even the letters from our great grandparents who wrote in cursive. It is important to be able to ponder and glean wisdom and insights from these pieces of history.
  • Foreign Language – We will utilize Rosetta Stone for foreign languages.
  • Mathematics – Mathematics is a foundational component of learning. Our students will be learning the basics that accumulatively build on each lesson: identifying, measuring, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and so on.
  • Reading – We will be reading the Bible, encyclopedias, classic literature, poetry, letters and documents from history, how to manuals, DIY mechanics, recipes and more. If it is printed, we will be reading it with the goal of being able to understand the information, articulate what was learned and apply it to the appropriate lesson.
  • Skill Days – On skill days, most likely Fridays, we will have experts from the community on site to show us how to do things like basic car maintenance, survival skills, CPR/First Aid, fire safety, baking, gardening, canning, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, art, photography, music and more…
  • We will be working with local businesses to offer job shadowing and apprenticeship opportunities to interested students. We have many local tradesmen, bakers, artists, photographers, hair stylist, daycare/preschool teachers, and business professionals who have expressed a desire to be part of this program.

Foundations School is a place to learn how to think, not be told how to think. We will leave the politics to your family. The upper-level classrooms will be respectfully exploring topics to research, discuss and debate. As a policy we will not be discussing any topic that has anything to do with what happens in the privacy of one’s home or bedroom. We will again leave those topics to your family to tackle.
